Suricata Installation Guide for Ubuntu - Personal Package Archives (PPA)

The latest Suricata stable and beta packages are available for Ubuntu in a Ubuntu PPA (launchpad).

Currently the following Ubuntu versions are available both in 32bit and 64bit:

10.04 Lucid
11.04 Natty
11.10 Oneiric
12.04 Precise
12.10 Quantal
1 Installation
2 Upgrading
3 Removing
4 Beta Releases
5 External Links


Installation

To setup to install the latest stable Suricata, enter:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:oisf/suricata-stableapt-get update


Then you can install the latest stable Suricata by entering:

apt-get install suricata


Upgrading


Upgrading is simple:

apt-get update apt-get upgrade


Removing

To remove Suricata from your system:

apt-get remove suricata


Beta Releases

If you would like to help test the beta packages the same procedures

as above applies, we're just using another PPA "suricata-beta".

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:oisf/suricata-betaapt-get updateapt-get upgrade


You can use both the suricata-stable and suricata-beta
repositories together. Suricata will then always be the
latest release, stable or beta.
